This may just be the most romantic wedding I have ever seen. Maybe it?s the effortless beauty of a fall wedding in New England. Maybe it?s the rustic vintage feel in the details or the subtle travel theme in the paper goods. The groom proposed at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, so maybe it?s the romantic French details the bride incorporated into the decor. Maybe it?s the cuddly mittens worn by the bride or the vintage fur stoles she gifted to her maids. Maybe it?s in the love between the sweet bride and her groom that just warms the heart to the very core. Either way, you are going to swoon over the way Dreamlove Wedding Photography captured not only the look, but the feel of this day.
Shay and Seth met at Outward Bound where Shay was interviewing for Seth?s job (he was moving to a different position). After reviewing her resume and finding it eerily similar to his own? they?d gone to the same college, played the same sports growing up and had the same interests in the outdoors? he hired her on the spot. But their meeting was more than just interviewer and interviewee. It must have been fate because the two clicked and haven?t looked back since.
Shay?s most favorite memory of their relationship was when they moved in together. They spent the first couple of nights in the new house with barely any furniture. She remembers laying on the floor with their three dogs just talking and imagining what adventures lay ahead of them. There were some terrible thunder showers those first few nights, with nothing to absorb the sound or light. The dogs were scared and stayed close to them both. The days were hot and they slept with the windows and doors open. She remembers feeling like they were on ?a really awesome, homey vacation.? (Can you picture it? Sounds wonderful, doesn?t it? Best vacation ever perhaps? Just maybe. :))
Seth popped the question in Paris. At the Eiffel Tower. On Shay?s birthday. (Uhm. Best proposal ever? Just maybe.) It wasn?t even planned. In fact, he thought of the idea the week before while they were vacationing in Ireland with his family.
He?d wanted to propose at the top of the Eiffel Tower, but after waiting 30 minutes in line, Seth realized the tickets they bought were only for the 2nd floor! He was devastated.
By this time, Shay knew something was up and coming so she tried to cheer him up (and get him to propose!!). He was so sad, he couldn?t even enjoy the ride, so they walked down to the lawn instead. They grabbed a couple beers and found a spot to watch the next lights display. Just before 11pm, he pulled out the box and slid it over to her, officially asking her to be his bride.
{From the Bride} The wedding day was a total blur, but there are moments that remain crystal clear. We incorporated so many details to make it distinctly our union. There is something so romantic about New England in the fall, and especially the late fall as the cold air starts blowing in. We wanted our wedding to reflect the simplistic elegance of a New England autumn. Our wedding was distinctly vintage, a little rustic and a little travel, but always simple and elegant. Our families helped a lot with decorations and details, and we did a lot ourselves. We worked with a fabulous graphic designer who brought all of our details to life and amazing photographers who really captured how our day felt, not just how it looked.
There were so many parts of the day that were memorable, walking down the aisle and reading our vows were definitely the obvious. But, I will always remember waking up together that morning, looking at each other and saying ?we?re getting married today!?
We danced our first dance to ?All I Want is You? by Barry Louis Polisar, from the movie Juno. We really struggled to find the perfect song and one day when I got home from work, Seth pulled this song up for me and I was sold. We were dreading our first dance all day? and when it happened, we had so much fun! We just fell into our own world, laughed and took it all in.
{Advice for Couples} I knew that wedding planning would be stressful, everyone will tell you that. But, you don?t know how much, until it happens. It was easy for me to feel like it was my fault. There was stress on my parents and my family, because of ?my? wedding. Luckily Seth was the most supportive fianc? (and now husband) and really was there for me when times got tough.
My advice to couples planning now is number one, this is you and your fianc??s wedding. Don?t let your family push you into something that doesn?t feel 100% ?your wedding? or you?ll just be going through the motions. Pick your battles.
Remember what it?s all about ? getting married to the love of your life! In a week, a month, a year ? the color of your flowers or cut of your dress will not change how you feel about each other, so don?t let the details come between you.
Sigh. Swoon. I love every bit of this wedding. It?s so simple, so elegant, so utterly and completely romantic, and magical too. Thank you Seth and Shay for sharing your very special day and love story with us today! Congratulations, best of luck and so much love to you both! And thank you times a million to Dreamlove Wedding Photography! The way you captured this day was magical. Pure and simple. Thank you! xoxo
