MOBILE, Ala. (AP) ? U.S. Coast Guard officials say they've recovered the wreckage of a helicopter that crashed off Alabama in Mobile Bay, but three missing crewmembers weren't found and the search for them continues.
Capt. Don Rose, commanding officer of Coast Guard Sector Mobile, said Thursday that authorities are providing support and frequent updates on the search to the families of the missing. The missing have been identified as Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew Knight, Lt. j.g. Thomas Cameron and Lt. Cmdr. Dale Taylor.
The MH-65C helicopter crashed in the bay's shallow waters during a training mission Tuesday evening. One crewmember, Chief Petty Officer Fernando Jorge, was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead.
Petty Officer Bill Colclough says searchers began combing coastal waters after the crash.
